HATVP

The High Authority for the transparency of public life (HATVP), independent body to verify the heritage situations elected officials and their declarations of interests, reported the Financial parquet Senator of Bouche-du-Rhône Jean Noel Guerini, who has not declared his assets in an account in Switzerland in his wife name.

"It is an account in the name of his wife, which she had inherited from her father," said one of his lawyers, Dominique Mattei, confirming information Mediapart. According to him, there was on this account, for which the Senator had power of attorney, "10 or 15,000 euros" and any movement there would have been saved "for years". "Legally, the question is whether this account was part of his heritage or not but I think this is not the case," added Mr. Mattei, further emphasizing that Jean Noel Guerini had already mentioned the existence of this account before justice.

The High Authority announced on 11th of February entering the financial parquet with a record of Jean Noel Guerini, in view of a "serious doubt" about the senator of asset declarations of Bouche-du-Rhône, a former Socialist. This doubt, according to a statement from the HATVP on "completeness, accuracy and sincerity of his assets declaration (Ed. Established in 2014)." The instance has "found it necessary to bring these facts, may constitute criminal offenses known to the prosecutor of the Republic Financial and transmitted the entire record." The national financial prosecutor may decide to open a criminal investigation, as it has done in other cases including parliamentarians reported by HATVP.

Jean Noel Guerini, who lost the presidency of the County Council after the victory of the right, was also indicted, including influence peddling and conspiracy, in several cases of alleged fraudulent procurement, as its brother Alexander, suspected of dealings with the media. However, the Court of Appeal of Aix-en-Provence confirmed his release in mid-January and that of the Socialist deputy Jean David Ciot, while they were referred to court for embezzlement and concealment of this diversion in a fraudulent alleged dismissal case. At odds with the PS since his legal troubles, Jean Noel Guerini beat its exclusion in April 2014, by resigning from the party to form his own political movement, "The Power of 13".
