Senator of
the Reunion Paul
Verges said Monday it has filed
a bill to recognize
the 19th of March, 1946,
the day that was ended
the colonial status in Reunion,
Guadeloupe, Guyana and Martinique, and
to do this a anniversary holiday!
What else?
The bill, filed Friday by
Senator Communist, Republican and
Citizen (CRC), will
experience a journey before the fighter
can possibly come
into effect because it must
first receive a green light in committee before being examined meeting.
Assuming the Senate to adopt
right-wing majority, it should also be
passed in identical terms in the Assembly.
In its explanatory memorandum, the
dean of senators recalled that after
slavery, from 1663 to 1848, the colonial regime
that was established in Reunion
in 1848.
In 1945, "the four
old colonies officially designated
so, too distant from each other as are Martinique,
French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Reunion, claimed
at the same time, the same status in calling
for the abolition of colonial
regime on the one hand, and their
integration into Republic on the
other, to enjoy equality,
freedom and the French
social protection system, "says Paul
Vergès. These claims
of Aimé Césaire (Martinique),
Raymond Verges (Réunion, father of Paul Vergès), Leon Lepervanche (Reunion),
Léopold Bissol (Martinique) and Gaston Monnerville
(Guyana, former President of the Senate) gave the law March 19, 1946, he
said.
"The date of March 19,
1946 represents historical
acquired Reunion, like that of 20 December 1848" that ended slavery, writes Paul Vergès.
"It is important that March 19 is celebrated
as the 20 December, and as such,
or statutory holiday".
Between the 35 hours of work
per week, and the numerous days as public holidays, and all those that benefit
from social help to live, and, all the politicians that screw us by not paying their
taxes, etc.; we are really in big shit!
Vive la FRANCE
