Obviously social workers will
not want to have the same purpose as Alexandra Mezher, 22, stabbed to death by
a "minor" immigrant. That's what Sweden has become, and properly,
that is what Malmo has become.
More than 2,000 Swedish
officials have resigned in the city of Malmo last year. The largely layoffs are
especially made largely by social workers and teachers - and Malmo urgently
needs professionals, reports Sydsvenskan newspaper. Alarming reports show that
Malmo is fighting this. The population is growing exponentially, with 7,000
people per year. Most of what makes up this growth comes from the Third World -
Middle East and Africa. Meanwhile, the Swedes give up and leave the city, the
third largest, where ethnic Swedes became minority for some years now.
The Primary School in Malmo
should hire 3,000 new teachers by 2019, a goal that seems unlikely.
"Sometimes I walkup at0four in the morning to think; Oh God, how can we
deal with it," said school counselor Anders Rubin since last winter. This
year, a thousand new pre-school teachers are needed. The annual recruitment is
150-200. The number of homeless in Malmo is also reaching new record levels.
The cost of social assistance in the city is reaching a billion annually.
Meanwhile, the city is begging for social workers.
But Malmo is not attractive.
Last fall, 50% of social workers in social emergency services were on sick
leave, according to the union, which concluded: "The mismatch in the
workplace with low wages in Malmo now is bleeding from the loss of experienced
staff to other municipalities, which offer better conditions and wages."
In too many cases to social workers. They always work under time pressure.
There are periods of calm, says Katrin Skatt Gavert, President of the Academic
Union SSR. Malmo where gunfights, bombs and violence occur weekly, is sinking
fast!
