GERMAN PUBLIC TELEVISION INVITED MUSLIM FUNDAMENTALIST DEFENDING JIHADIST

German public television station ARD is being heavily criticized for having invited one of its programs Nora Illi, a female representative of a group of Swiss Muslims, to Sunday.
This is because, in addition to wearing a niqab, at a time when the ban on the use of public veils in the country is being discussed, Illi made statements that were interpreted as appealing to jihadism.

The theme of the political program presented by Anne Will on Sundays was the radicalization of young people. Among the guests were a man whose daughter joined the Islamic State terrorist group, a ruling party legislator, an Islam expert, a magnet, and Nora Illi. The attentions were all turned to the latter, however, as she expressed some controversial opinions on this subject, according to AFP.

The 32-year-old said it was understandable and commendable that young Europeans saw Syria as the "Promised Land" and joined militant groups in the country.

Some posts made by the woman on Facebook were read during the show and questioned by the presenter. Publications such as "Muslims are repressed all over the world" and that joining Jihadism should be considered an act of "civil courage."

The woman again defended these ideas on television and her statements were interpreted as an appeal to jihadism.

"This is propaganda, you can not say that on public television," said Ahmad Mansur, one of the program's guests.

On social networks, several people criticized the choice of program guests. "A guest of a talk show supports the holy war on public television, and I pay for the TV subscription for that," said one of the users.
Nora Illi threw more firewood when she said that Muslim women were not oppressed. "In Islam, women have many rights and possibilities, and we do not have to balance family and careers like other women," Illi said in the program.

"If a woman with a niqab is presented as an advocate for women's rights on a public television program, then I fear that soon [Syrian President Bashar] al-Assad will be presented as a human rights expert," said Peter Tauber, Secretary general of the CDU, the party of Angela Merkel, according to the Daily Mail.

"The media crisis at the height of the talkows' exaggeration," Bilkay Oney of the Democratic Socialist Party said on Twitter.

In her defense, the ARD stated that Nora Illi's views and attitude were "voiced and debated" during the program.

Saisi!!!
