The Revelations of a High Qatari Official at the BBC

A few days ago, the former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Hamad Bin Jassim, announced in an interview with the BBC that his country provided all kinds of assistance to armed opposition groups in Syria via the Turkey for years.
Doha was not the only one to show support for the anti-Assad forces, as it was joined by the United States, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE and Turkey itself. All this began in 2007 after Israel suffered a humiliating defeat in southern Lebanon, being unable to overcome Hezbollah resistance in 2006. According to the former Qatari prime minister, Qatar was in charge of what he called the "Syrian file" on behalf of the United States and Saudi Arabia, adding that he had access to American and Saudi documents on the staging of a so-called "Syrian civil war".

Hamad Bin Jassim announced that arms and equipment have been distributed to various opposition groups via Turkey. These operations were a routine for the US, Turkish and Saudi military in this country. At the same time, Incirlik airbase would host a joint operational headquarters, where intelligence officers from the United States, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Jordan, Israel , France and Britain were to coordinate operations in Syria. Washington went so far as to send six special reconnaissance satellites so that these officers could observe the entire Syrian territory 24 hours a day. This operational command center was responsible for military operations in northern Syria. With respect to operations in southern Syria, Washington has created a similar command center for Jordan Hussein Air Base, where officers from Jordan, Israel, the United States Britain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar would join forces to try to defeat the Syrian government.

The former prime minister of Qatar announced that $ 137 billion had been squandered in attempts to overthrow the Assad government since the beginning of the war, while some of these funds were stolen by various commanders who became millionaires of the day. next day. In addition, considerable resources have been squandered in attempts to bribe Syrian soldiers to persuade them to betray their country or desert their positions. On average, a Syrian officer would receive from 15 to 30 thousand dollars to betray his country.

The former Qatari official reportedly said that Syria's former prime minister, Riyad Farid Hijab, was persuaded to flee Syria by his cousin who had been living in Jordan for a long time. For this treason, Riyadh would have paid him a nice sum of 50 million dollars. In addition, former Republican Guard commander Manaf Tlass reportedly sold his home country for a chance to gain support from the United Arab Emirates because of his sister's successful attempts to persuade him to leave. His sister, Madihi Tlass, enjoys French citizenship since becoming the widow of Syrian-Saudi businessman Akram Aja. This fact allowed the French intelligence services to approach him to carry out the operation mentioned above.

According to Hamad Bin Jassim, Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri played a major role in fomenting the Syrian conflict with broad support from several pro-Saudi Lebanese officials. In addition, the former Qatari prime minister mentioned the role played by Iraqi Kurds in the Syrian "civil war", especially Massoud Barzani. At the end of the interview, he announced that his government had played a big role in the destruction of Egypt, Libya, Syria and Yemen, acting on behalf of Washington.

It is difficult to say what prompted such a personality to make these revelations. Most of the facts he mentions were known to analysts who are closely following Syrian events. But this time, instead of being satisfied with reports from "certain sources of trust", we are dealing with a real confession made by the man behind the so-called movement of color revolutions in the Arab world. Perhaps he obeyed the orders of the current Emir who turned against Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, breaking off all diplomatic relations with the Persian Gulf monarchies.

But then the question arises: why did the former prime minister talk about the role of the United States and Turkey? States with which Doha has a close relationship for a long time? Today, Hamad Bin Jassim found himself in a difficult situation, as the Qatar Investment Fund has become legendary in the Arab world for its corrupt practices. The US and British intelligence services have accumulated enough compromising records to blackmail the former public servant for life. And with Riyadh, there is no point in spoiling the relationship, as King Salman is about to give up his post on behalf of his son, Crown Prince Mohammed. And Qatar will then have a chance to find a common language with Saudi Arabia.

However, Jassim's motives behind these revelations are a much less interesting topic than the reluctance of international agencies to open an international inquiry into all the circumstances of the overthrow of the legitimate governments of a number of Middle Eastern states, as well as on the continuing attempts to destroy Yemen and Syria, which are in flagrant violation of the norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. And all the leaders of the countries mentioned by the Prime Minister of Qatar, including himself, must be arrested and tried by the International Criminal Court for their actions that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. It is clear that these agencies have themselves been compromised for a long time, but justice deserves a try. Or at least one could attract more attention to the interview of Qatari officials. Such revelations should not be ignored.
