We, the doctors of the world, united and faithful to the Hippocratic Oath, recognizing that the medical profession as we know it is at a crossroads, are compelled to declare the following;
WHEREAS it is our greatest responsibility and our greatest duty to maintain and restore the dignity, integrity, art and science of medicine;
WHEREAS our ability to care for our patients is under unprecedented attack;
WHEREAS public decision-makers have chosen to impose a “one-size-fits-all” treatment strategy, resulting in unnecessary illness and death, rather than upholding the fundamental concepts of the individualized and personalized approach to patient care, which has emerged. proven to be safe and more effective;
WHEREAS physicians and other health care providers who work on the front line, using their knowledge of epidemiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology, are often the first to identify new treatments that can save lives;
WHEREAS physicians are increasingly discouraged from engaging in open professional discourse and exchanging ideas on new and emerging diseases, which endangers not only the essence of the medical profession, but above all, more tragically, the lives of our patients;
WHEREAS thousands of physicians are prevented from providing treatment to their patients, due to barriers erected by pharmacies, hospitals and public health agencies, rendering the vast majority of healthcare providers powerless to protect their patients patients facing the disease. Doctors are now advising their patients to simply go home (thus allowing the virus to replicate) and come back when their disease worsens, resulting in hundreds of thousands of unnecessary patient deaths, due to the absence treatment ;
WHEREAS this is not medicine. This is not care. These policies may in fact constitute crimes against humanity.
THEREFORE IT IS
RESOLVED, that the doctor-patient relationship must be restored. The very heart of medicine is this relationship, which enables physicians to better understand their patients and their illnesses, to formulate treatments that give the best chance of success, while the patient is an active participant in their care.
RESOLVED, that the political intrusion into the practice of medicine and the doctor / patient relationship must end. Physicians, and all health care providers, should be free to practice the art and science of medicine without fear of reprisal, censorship, slander or disciplinary action, including possible loss of authorization to exercise and hospital privileges, loss of insurance contracts, and interference from government entities and organizations - which further prevent us from caring for patients in need. More than ever, the right and ability to exchange objective scientific results, which advance our understanding of disease, must be protected.
BE IT RESOLVED that physicians must defend their right to prescribe treatment, respecting the principle "FIRST, DO NO HARM". Doctors should not be prevented from prescribing safe and effective treatments. These restrictions continue to cause unnecessary illness and death. Patients' rights, after being fully informed of the risks and benefits of each option, must be restored to receive these treatments.
BE IT RESOLVED that we invite physicians around the world and all healthcare providers to join us in this noble cause as we strive to restore trust, integrity and professionalism in the practice of medicine.
RESOLVED, we invite scientists around the world, who are knowledgeable in biomedical research and uphold the highest ethical and moral standards, to emphasize their ability to conduct and publish objective and empirical research without fear of retaliation on their career, reputation and livelihood.
RESOLVED, that we invite patients, who believe in the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and the possibility of being an active participant in their care, to demand access to science-based medical care.
