FRANCE - MP SYLVIE ANDRIEUX RESIGNS AFTER HER CONVICTION

She was convicted on appeal in 2014 for embezzlement. Her appeal to the Court of Cassation did nothing.
This Friday, the deputy of Marseille Sylvie Andrieux finally resigned from the Assembly after her condemnation, which became definitive in early November. She was accused of distributing funds to fictitious associations while she was a regional councilor.

"The National Assembly has taken note of the resignation of Mrs. Sylvie Andrieux, deputy of the third constituency of Bouches-du-Rhône," reports the official newspaper on Friday. Her seat will remain vacant until the end of the legislature. Justice has condemned the member for having, between 2005 and 2008, while she was regional councilor, distributed for electoral purposes about 700 000 euros of regional subsidies to fictitious associations. Sylvie Andrieux had been up to the Court of Cassation but had not succeeded in canceling her sentence of four years in prison, including three years suspended, a fine of € 100,000 and five years of ineligibility.

Saisi!
