The Paris public prosecutor announced Thursday, June 27, that he discontinues
the procedure opened for "false testimony" before the Senate
commission of inquiry on the Benalla affair against Patrick Strzoda, the chief of
staff of Emmanuel Macron.
The Paris public
prosecutor notes that Patrick Strzoda "was able to carry out an incomplete
description of the attributions of Alexandre Benalla during his hearing of 25
July" in the Senate but that he then provided a descriptive note of these
missions on 10 October.
"All of these
elements do not allow to characterize an alteration of the truth intended to
deceive the information mission" of the Senate and "the procedure has
been dismissed concerning him.
Parissans parquet floor a statement on the other hand, the
former employee of the Elysée Alexandre Benalla and the former employee of LREM
Vincent Crase, also concerned by these investigations opened following a report
from the Senate, the prosecutor said he will consider following the give the
procedure once the judicial investigations against them have been completed.
Therefore, it does not
appear to him "not possible to assess, at this stage, the sincerity of
their testimony" and the report against them will therefore be
"subject to further review", when these procedures will be completed.
False testimony is punishable by five years' imprisonment and a 75,000 euro
