Mourad Khenissi, a senior inspector in the public finance department of the Hérault department, is now sleeping in prison. In addition to his main activity, the investigators of the judicial police suspect him to be also the de facto manager of a business (on behalf of his wife) in the district of Figuerolles. He is now being prosecuted for tax evasion, cigarette smuggling and concealed work.

At his home, the investigators found 12,000€ in cash, 47 cartons of cigarettes from Eastern Europe and 918 bottles of alcohol. 171,000€ was also seized from a friend of the couple. During his audition, Mourad Khenissi admitted not to have totally declared the ten employees of the trade.

If the media remained silent on the identity of the accused, it is actually a close to the Hérault deputy Patrick Vignal. In the 2012 parliamentary elections, Mourad Khenissi was indeed part of the campaign team of the ex-PS MP who is now a member of La République En Marche.

On the website of Patrick Vignal, the tax inspector is presented as a member of "experts-citizens", a group in charge "to fuel the reflections of the deputy". As such, Mourad Khenissi was in charge of issues related to the economy, employment and taxation. According to L'Agglorieuse, he was also Patrick Vignal's campaign auditor.
