Who among the discerning consumers, does not dream of having at hand a small pesticides detector able to see the presence of toxic products in fresh fruits and vegetables? That's what brings the discovery of a young Norman: "Eat Scan", an invention destined for a unique future.

Eat Scan is the brainchild of Simon Bernard, a student at the National Maritime College of Le Havre (the ENSM). He is the winner of Green Tech Schools project, launched by Ségolène Royal February 9, 2016, to select innovators among school students in the department.

The result: it will benefit from personalized support to help them develop to their invention, with an endowment of € 150,000. Eventually, Eat Scan may even benefit from a second funding from this time up to € 500,000.

Scan EAT is an individual e-controller of the quality of water, air and raw foods (fruits, vegetables ...). This e-controller will detect and measure pesticides in food and the various pollutants in water or air. The interface uses a miniature infrared spectrometer, a technology commercialized recently.

A priori, the maritime school student Simon Bernard has little to do with the issue of pesticides in food. But you know, the "a priori" is like pesticides ... it distrusts. Because this young man of 24, describing himself as someone who "like to think" is interested in many areas:
