THE BENEFITS OF FORMER PRESIDENTS REVIEWED SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD

Now "during the five years following their leaving the service, it is available to former presidents seven permanent employees as well as two service agents, belonging to the civil service or state-funded on contract. "(Article 1).
The speed decreases after five years, "Beyond the five years following the termination of their functions [Editor's note: but only 2021 for Chirac, Sarkozy and Hollande], it is available to former Presidents of the Republic three permanent employees, and a service agent, belonging to the public service or paid by the government on contract. "(Article 2)

The ancient former Presidents of the Republic still continue to receive housing "furnished and equipped, including the rent, expenses and overhead costs are borne by the State." (Article 3). Thus, as the management of expenses for reception and travel for themselves and a collaborator.

However, Valery Giscard d'Estaing, Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy, the period of five years reckoned from the effective date of this decree. Their benefits will therefore slightly revised downwards that as of October 2021.

Former Presidents cost us dearly. Socialist MP René Dosière had calculated public expenditure on the former heads of state: the three former presidents cost each year 9.6 million euros to the taxpayer. It is even € 10.3 million per year according to the Court of Auditors.
The prize goes to Valéry Giscard d'Estaing with 3.9 million euros, beating Nicolas Sarkozy (€ 3.3 million) and Jacques Chirac (€ 2.4 million).

Saisi!
