SAUDI ARABIA RE-ELECTED TO THE UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

The 14 elected countries now play a three-year term beginning in 2017. In total, the UN HRC consists of 47 countries: fifteen terminate the mandate at the end of 2017 and 18 at the end of next year.
Saudi Arabia was re-elected as the Asia-Pacific group member, despite strong criticism of the country has been subjected precisely for their performance in the area of human rights, both internally and externally.

Several human rights groups have made an intensive campaign against the re-election of the country in the Middle East, based on the high number of executions and other violations of rights at national level, and also focused on the atrocities that Saudi Arabia and the coalition for it led have committed in Yemen since the beginning of the fierce offensive against the country in March 2015. But the campaign was not successful.

In June this year, the United Nations came to put Saudi Arabia on a "black list", accusing it of being responsible for the death of hundreds of children in Yemen. But did not last long. After threats of funds to various UN programs cuts, the Arab kingdom, which is considered one of the major sponsors of terrorism takfiri in the Middle East, was free of moorings in a few days.

Against Russia, the more chance

RT estimates that more than 80 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have made pressure on the United Nations in the sense that Russia ceased to be part of the CHR. If they did, they succeeded in claiming "war crimes" committed by the Russians in their campaign to regain the city of Aleppo in Syria - where the Russian military forces intervene, it should be recalled, at the request of the legitimate government of the country; unlike the military forces of other countries.

Those who see as normal the fact that Saudi Arabia enter this UN body whose function is "the promotion and protection of all human beings around the world," certainly little scared away by the presence of countries such as the US, UK and France - the main instigators of the campaign in 2011, would lead to the destruction of Libya; the first, the assumed form, strong allies of Saudi Arabia in Yemen campaign; neocolonialism promoters and destabilizing agents in the world (just think of Syria).

On The 28 October, 112 countries voted in Russia, which contributes to the integrated election in the Eastern Europe group. Were elected Croatia with 114 votes, and Hungary, with 144.
